Hey horny readers! If you only have a few moments, please scroll to the bottom of this post, which has an easy link to donate products to people impacted by the recent hurricane.
I had a wonderful time last week performing at an event for World Contraception Day. It was hosted by NY Birth Control Access Project, an organization that centers work on birth control access and focuses their resources on training reproductive health advocates. Find out more about them here.
As always, thank you so much for reading the Adult Sex Ed newsletter. If you’re enjoying it, please share with friends, so they can be hilariously informed.
Adult Sex Ed comedically challenges why we think what we think about sex. In case you’re new, I’m Dani Faith Leonard, a comedy writer, film producer, and performer. In 2018, I started a comedy show called Adult Sex Ed and launched this newsletter last year. Each week, I take a fun deep dive into a topic that I’ve been researching. Want to know more? Ready to plug the holes in your education? Okay, let’s go!
This week’s newsletter isn’t a typical funny deep dive, but instead an ask for your help supporting victims of Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina. Women and children are particularly vulnerable in humanitarian crises, and that includes the aftermath of natural disasters. Conflicts and disasters can leave people who menstruate without access to clean and safe menstrual products.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene's devastating impact on North Carolina, The No Woman, No Girl Initiative (NWNG) is working tirelessly to provide critical support to women and children affected by the storm. Their first airlift was a major success—over 106 women and children received essential hygiene supplies that will last them for 30 days! The same helicopter that delivered the supplies was able to make a heart-warming rescue: a mother and her one-week-old baby.
The most effective way to support NWNG's Hurricane Helene relief efforts is to directly shop their Amazon Wish List. By donating items such as hygiene and feminine products, you can directly support ensuring women have access to things like a toothbrushes, products for their menstrual cycle, and hand sanitizer if they don’t have access to running water. Please consider sending help if you can afford to, and please spread the word.
Wishing you all a wonderful week.
—Dani
